Algarve solar and HVAC as one energy system

Most Algarve roofs can make useful electricity. Most Algarve houses need serious cooling. Treating those as separate purchases is how you end up exporting power at noon and paying for it again at 7pm with the air-conditioning on.

Start with the load, not the roof
A survey that begins with panel count is the wrong way round. We measure how the house actually lives: which rooms are occupied in August, whether the pool is heated, whether anyone is here in January, and what must stay on if the grid drops.
Only then does the array size, inverter, and Tesla Powerwall capacity mean something.
Heat pumps that drink sunshine
Modern Daikin heat pumps move heat rather than burning it. On a clear May-to-September stretch they can run a large share of the cooling load straight from the roof. Pair that with storage and you cover the evening peak without leaning on the grid at its most expensive.
Solar thermal still has a place for domestic hot water on some plots. Photovoltaic is the flexible backbone because it also serves lighting, kitchen, and backup.
When the grid goes quiet
